Why I Vaccinated

You could say I have a vested interest in getting people vaccinated against meningococcal disease with Menactra vaccine. After all, it's my job to speak to doctors and make sure they vaccinate their patients. But for me, it's not just about my job. It's a much more emotional thing because it comes close to home.

It all started with four people — James, Barbara, Marissa, and Brian. These four people are the siblings of both my husband and myself. When Menactra vaccine first came to market, these kids were in high school. With all the knowledge I had about this potentially deadly disease and how easily it can be prevented, I just couldn't face my parents or my brothers and sisters if I didn't do something. So I did. Now three of the four are vaccinated. And there's one to go.

Whenever I talk to anyone about meningococcal disease and the importance of vaccinating with Menactra vaccine, I see the faces of my siblings and it makes me realize just how important this is to every family.
